Izod Center is a multi-use area located in the city of East Rutherford, the state of New Jersey. The facility that was opened in 1981 and has a capacity of about 20,000 seats is part of Meadowlands Sports Complex. The arena used to have different names including Brendan Byrne Arena, and later Continental Airlines Arena and it has also another common name Meadowlands Arena. The main events that are hosted in the arena include sports, concerts, in addition to other events and shows.

Several sports teams used to take Izod Center as home to their games including the NBA team New Jersey Nets, the NHL team New Jersey Devils, as well as the NCAA team Seton Hall Pirates. All the teams have moved to Prudential Center after its opening in Newark. In the sports season of 2011-12, the center hosted part of basketball schedule of Fordham Rams. The naming rights for the facility were purchased in 1996 by Continental Airlines, thus the arena was named after the company.

The construction of Izod Center started in 1977 and it cost approximately million. The opening of the arena was in 1981 with performances of the rock band Bruce Springsteen. And later, the arena hosted an ice show. In October 1981, the New Jersey Nets played their first game at the arena and they lost for New York Knicks. In 1982, the arena hosted the All-Star Game of NBA. The same year, the New Jersey Devils moved to the arena after they used to base at Colorado. In 1996, the facility hosted the Final Four.

In addition to sports events that are hosted regularly in the center, it has also hosted a wide range of concerts and a lot of big artists have stopped by the arena. In addition to their opening concerts at the arena, the Bruce Springsteen band made performances again in 1984, 1992, and 1999. In 1982, Queen made a performance at the arena with Billy Squier. As part of their North American Tour in 1981, The Rolling Stones have stopped by the arena. Among the others that have performed at the arena, there are Rush, Kiss, Simon & Garfunkel, Cher, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Prince & The New Power Generation and many others.
